Nothing Wrong Here

“Nothing wrong here.”

It’s amazing how often candidates hear that during the interview process. No fires. No dysfunction. No politics. No surprises. “Everything’s great - we just need someone to take us to the next level.” How often have you seen a job description that says that?

And then Day One arrives. You discover:

• The team is burned out.
• Processes don’t exist - or they exist in someone’s head.
• Systems are held together with band-aids and hope.
• The metrics you were promised aren’t tracked.
• The “clear strategy” changes every 48 hours.
• And the role they hired you for isn’t the role you’re actually walking into.

Here’s the truth: people don’t leave companies because everything is perfect. And companies don’t open key roles because everything is running smoothly. There’s nothing wrong with having challenges. What is wrong is pretending they don’t exist.

Great leaders aren’t afraid to say:
“This is broken. Here’s what we need. Here’s why we believe you can help us fix it.” Or better yet - "This is broken. Can you tell me how you would fix it?"

Because honesty attracts the right talent and repels the wrong. If you want someone who can create real impact, trust them enough to tell them what they’re walking into. Transparency isn’t a risk. It’s a competitive advantage.
